You will notice in our neighborhood a large pipe going through our green space. This image shows the existing force main (brown solid line) and the proposed temporary by-pass pumping line (red dashed line). Once the temporary by-pass pumping line is in place, they will perform their testing. They mentioned 4 to 5 days for all installation and testing, so should be complete by Friday (May 2).
Then they will operate the temporary by-pass while they acquire supplies to replace approximately 100 feet of force main pipe near the lift station where they have had the leak. The contractor completing the repairs believes it will take between 1 to 2 weeks for their work. Assuming all goes well we should only have the by-pass pumping line in place for a month.
They do anticipate some restoration will be needed where the pipe lays on the ground as it will likely kill the grass under the piping. They are planning to fix this. The piping will be a 12" HDPE fused pipe so there will be no joints that can leak out onto our property. (edit to add 5/2/25: they will be doing a test with WATER first so if you see spraying water, do not fret, they are looking for leaks before they go live)
if you see something, feel free to reach out to a board member and we will handle it. Thank you!
Our old bridge was falling apart and becoming a hazard. Thanks to Pat Dorr for the new bridge.
It looks great!
